About Us

The Newark Community Healthy Pet Clinic is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people and animals by providing compassionate, quality veterinary preventive care visits to underserved financially disadvantaged clients’ dogs and cats in Newark, NJ.

One Sunday a month, we assemble for scheduled half hour appointments. We see dogs in the morning and cats in the afternoon. Each appointment will include history taking, physical exam, core vaccinations for Rabies, DAPP, Lepto and Bordetella for dogs and Rabies, FVRCP and FELV for cats if the vaccines are deemed needed at the time by the veterinary staff. A basic heartworm test for the dogs and feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus test for the cats are provided. Dogs and cats are dewormed and monthly heartworm preventative as well as flea and tick protection will be dispensed. Microchipping is also available for $5. Client education regarding further care for their pets are discussed and sent home.

Each client is allowed 2 pets per appointment per clinic. Dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Clients must provide copied documented proof that their gross income is $20,000 or less per year, a valid ID and previous vaccine records if they are available. A suggested monetary donation of $25 will be received upon arrival for each pets appointment.
